Installing & launching

Download the launcher, install the game, get past Windows warnings and sign in for the first time.

The Eden launcher is a small program (27 MB) that downloads the full game (about 21 GB), keeps it updated and starts it. You never have to patch anything by hand.

What you need#

  • Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
  • About 25 GB of free disk space
  • An Eden account. Make one on the Play page.

Step by step#

  1. Download the launcher from the Play page. The file is called v232 Launcher.exe. Keep that name, because the launcher uses it to update itself.
  2. Make a new, empty folder, for example C:\Games\Eden, and move the launcher into it. Avoid Program Files, where Windows blocks programs from writing their own files.
  3. Open the launcher. Windows may say "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway. The launcher isn't code-signed, so Windows warns about it the first time.
  4. Press Download & Install. The launcher downloads several files at once and can resume. You can close it and continue later without losing progress.
  5. When it finishes, sign in with your Eden username and password and press Play.

The first start takes a few minutes while the game loads its data files. The screen can look frozen during that time. Give it a moment. Later starts are faster.

Antivirus and missing files#

Some antivirus programs don't like private server launchers and quietly delete or block game files. Symptoms: the game won't start, closes right after login, or the launcher keeps re-downloading the same file.

To fix it with Windows Security:

  1. Open Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Manage settings.
  2. Scroll to Exclusions → Add or remove exclusions → Add an exclusion → Folder.
  3. Pick your Eden folder (for example C:\Games\Eden).
  4. Open the launcher and click Verify game files to repair anything that was removed.

Other antivirus programs have the same option, usually called exclusions or exceptions.

Updates#

The launcher checks for updates every time you open it. It updates itself and the game automatically, so always start Eden through the launcher.

The launcher and your connection#

When you press Play, the launcher sets up a local connection to the Eden server. Usually this is automatic and you can close the launcher afterwards. If the launcher says to keep it open, leave it running while you play. Closing it would disconnect you.
